Bob Williamson was introduced to computers back in the dark ages of 1974, when he received his first book on programming in BASIC. Many (MANY!) happy hours were spent in front of a VIC-20, Sinclair ZX-81 and the Commodore 64. University life brought with it the opportunity to pick up WAT-5, Fortran 77, PASCAL and Assembler. The University of Windsor bestowed upon him a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1987. This lead to employment with a company in Windsor that specialized in vision sensors and non-contact measuring devices – an ideal place to learn the ins and outs of early PC’s and hone his DOS skills. Some UNIX skills were also required so he could enjoy the latest computer software tools like VERONICA, ARCHIE and GOPHER (precursors to the World Wide Web).
Early in his 20’s, Bob had an encounter with the Lord Jesus
Christ that radically changed the direction of his life. The next two
decades
would find him furthering his education and pastoring two churches (in
Windsor,
Ontario and Saskatoon, Saskatchewan). Through-out this time, he built,
maintained and repaired hundreds of computers, as well as wrote more
than two
dozen database applications for clients. More recent projects have
included
working with several local churches and one college to help revamp
their networks
and systems.
And the beat goes on …
